Penzance Bed and Breakfasts

Located on the far South West tip of Cornwall, Penzance is a coastal seaside town of some 20,000 people. Being located by the sea and as far to the south as one can go in England, Penzance has some of the best weather that England has to offer.

The place name Penzance comes from Cornish references to the Abbey of St Anthony that stood over what is now the town harbour over a thousand years ago. Settlements have been found in and around the town for many thousands of years prior to that with the first signs of habitation coming around the Iron age.

The early history of Penzance shows the town thriving from beginnings as far back as 1512 when the first pier at the harbour was built. A succession of English Kings granted a variety of accredations to the town including that of Royal Market.

In the 18th and 19th Centuries the town thrived from a number of areas – notably agriculture and ship repair in and around the harbour (benefitting from being the farthest west one could go in the English Channel).

The introduction of the railway again boosted the town as it enabled fresh agricultural produce to be transported to markets in Bristol and even London. The traditional industries of fishing, mining and agriculture have largely been replaced by tourism and light industry.

Accommodation in and around the town is plentiful and ranges from the small Bed and Breakfast to larger hotel chains. The smaller B&Bs and Guest Houses offer an attractive night’s stay with quality lodgings combined with traditional Full English Breakfast included in the tariff.

We also believe visitors and tourists alike benefit from the smaller Penzance guest houses style of lodgings because the proprietor usually has a wealth of knowledge of Penzance and the surrounding area and is only too happy to depart that information to visitors.

Here at Penzance Bed and Breakfasts we have chosen a selection of the best B&Bs from the town. Click the pictures to reveal full details of each property including the Guest Tariff, accommodations, and amenities each has to offer.
